I agree that it can be harsh. At the same time, I enjoy having the different seasons. Although this year it didn't feel like we had Fall.

One quick and easy example is China. To echo what someone else said further up the thread, the fact that they have the data is a liability to people. Policies and protocols can change over time. Just because they have great data access prot

I used to think to the same thing, that is until I saw the selfish ledger video. Yes, of course we have free will but I have a difficult time trusting a company that would put out something like this. https://www.theverge.com

Having been at my current org for 8 years, I have to say that it's difficult to fully grasp the politics of a place if people only plan on staying for 1-3 years at a time. I've also become more and more effective at quickly diagno

I also wanted to chime in and say that I periodically will have bad lower back pain. Consistently the one thing that will fix the issue is working out, with a plan. Core workouts, deadlifts, etc. The key part is making sure you start with a

So if Google acquired Fitbit, I'm guessing it would have access to all historical Fitbit user data. When is the U.S. going to get proper user data protections?

A saying I used at my old job was, "It could be worse, you could be face-down in a ditch somewhere." I thought it was funny and meant to improve people's perspective. Most people thought it was morbid too, so I had to stop. P

I used the G Suite basic account in the past ($6/month), I was able to get a support ticket responded to within 24 hours. The issue got resolved by someone before their support team responded to me via email, but I was still happy an a

You have to be careful with throwing people under the bus because if it's noticed by people..going to be honest, they are not going to trust you and word will get around. You become that snake to avoid, you're dangerous to work wi

Mobile app discoverability is terrible, it’s not just you. I guess you’re just supposed to monkey around with it and hope you find new features.

Welcome to freedom my friend. The only social apps I’ve kept are Snapchat for family and Reddit for gaming stuff. It’s been really eye opening to me how much better I feel after deleting my Facebook and Twitter accounts.

People once felt the same way about Microsoft. There’s ways to be competitive with Google for whatever you’re interested in. You can compete by having good customer service for your product. They’ve given that up to the algos. I know I pers

Sink or swim is poor management, but if you're young, at your first tech job or haven't experienced anything better, how would you know? My first dev job was so terrible, I almost quit this career entirely.

I'm not sure why you got downvoted, but I have to agree. At least a couple of employers I had in smaller towns in the midwest would treat employees like property, and would assume you would never (or be able to) leave. "You should
