For internal purposes, you're probably right. For distribution and documentation purposes, I think it's much easier to understand "this plugin works on 7.3 or later" than "this plugin works on 2010-08-25 or later."

I am curious what "add IDE features" means. It seems like a wide-open feature request. A few things I can think of: * Better support for background tasks .. :mak, :grep, system(), :! without interrupting editing. * Fancier errorlist and loc

(you douched it up a couple days ago with that "narcissistic shit" comment so I'm pricing you conservatively) You're way off-base, and you're crazy if you expect I read a single word after that. Any comment I made was in direct

Five years in advance? That's nuts. My time in five years will likely be twice as valuable as it is now. I also find "set by the market, with the seller's right to set a floor" dubious .. what market dictates this? Prices vary wildly from

That's why we have the FHS ;) /srv contains site-specific data which is served by this system. http://www.samba.org/~cyeoh/pub/fhs-2.3.html#SRVDATAFORSERVI... Unfortunately, /srv/ is often ignored. Good move by Debian to make thi

Once, this was a valid comparison (Ubuntu/Sid). Now Ubuntu is a strange beast, a world apart from other distros in goals and just in the basic desktop experience. aptosid is probably a better choice if you want a more stable Sid these days

So then run ArchLinux on your servers, and godspeed? Debian is not aimed at having the latest and greatest, but its packages do tend to be more up-to-date than RHEL/CentOS, which is its main competition in the "stable server distro that doe

Of course. The tone of the top-level comment, I think, is "woah, Debian, you call this kernel updated?" Rock-solid distros like RHEL/CentOS and Debian are deliberately conservative. Some folks don't like that.

Just make sure you're not on "testing" if you're doing this for a desktop (note that it is uncommon to run "testing" on a server). This release means that Sid ("unstable") just became "testing". Now, many folks are running Sid fine on their

For anyone else wondering, RHEL 6.4 has the 2.6.32-358 kernel. Zenwalk 7.2 has the 3.2.5 kernel. What's the point of citing the kernel shipped with another distro here?

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a widely used rich text editor, be it TinyMCE, CKEditor, YUI Editor or ExtJS' HtmlEditor that doesn't map the Tab key to insert a tabstop or a number of non-breaking spaces. goog.editor.Field is absolut

The default behavior for Tab in rich text editors has been to insert a tabstop for quite some time. I think this is just a casualty of goog.editor.Editor's unconventional default behavior, which is to tab out of the field. If that is truly

Not everybody owns or wants a smartphone. Linode needs to extend this to some non-smartphone device, like YubiKey, or offer SMS codes, like Google Authenticator. This is a step in the right direction, but is ultimately disappointing for me.
