How far in the future are you wanting to consider? I don't think we're remotely close to even a primitive form of AI, let alone any AI that can program without human input. Personally, I'd be shocked if this happens in the ne

It can be done responsibly. But unfortunately, I agree it's mostly predatory.

These customers would be opting-in for the HTML emails. They are not tech-savy customers, they just want the full info delivered to their inbox formatted nicely. I get that some people don't want HTML emails, but that's not what&#

Nice, I'll give the mailchimp tool a shot. I really just need to setup a handful of templates, so it being a manual tool isn't a problem at all. I found an old broken link to free mailchimp templates, didn't think to check th

Nice, didn't know that. I'm a .NET guy though and have only used SVN and TFS at work, so now I can use TFS at home as well. Probably should learn Git with my next project...

Love the new Microsoft. For small side projects/prototypes, I have tended to not use version control (I know, the horror). I just stumbled across their free private repo storage this morning, and it's going to be a huge improvemen

Has the title been updated? It currently is "Using Protobuf instead of JSON to communicate with a front end", which is not click bait at all. The author used Protobuf instead of JSON as an experiment, and concluded that there is n

I really like "Ethical Me". Many small decisions we make throughout the day are supporting causes and trends that we could be greatly opposed to. A site that showed this would be very powerful. Seems like it'd be really hard

This is a non factor in my decision making. I want to play games on the most advanced/compelling platform. If the device is ugly, it doesn't matter to me because there are many ways I can hide it or disguise it.

This is the biggest challenge in detecting life elsewhere in our universe- what will it look like? The issue becomes even murkier when you consider the existence of other dimensions. My favorite analogy- imagine we lived in a 2D world, wher

Site seems to be crippling under a load, homepage is now throwing an "Error establishing a database connection". Off topic, but another great real-world case of why static sites are smart.

I have a really hard time with seeing grief on social media. It just comes across as shallow to me. People changing their profile picture to the deceased, posting tributes to them... it just seems fake. I don't doubt their sincerity, I
