I try to keep an open mind about these things and just look at the data. So far, they seem to be doing even better under EIG but run independently. I hope it continues that way but I will just keep watching and write about it if it starts t

March 2013. From what I've been tracking, their reputation has only improved since. It seems running independently is going well for the time being.

If you think this is the beginning of that phase you haven't been paying any attention at all. Just look up Endurance International Group. They own many (most?) of the major consumer brands and snag up new ones regularly. I can think o

It's always interesting to hear people talking about trends they see in a web hosting company. The first thing I do is check and see if their experience actually matches what I see in the data. http://reviewsignal.com/w

If you are starting to research your options you may find the data my startup publishes useful: http://reviewsignal.com/webhosting/compare It tracks what people are saying about many of the big hosting providers on Twi

Another problem with small hosts is small sample size. Hosting is an odd product that everything is good until it's not. Many/most people never really have any sort of 'experience' with their hosting company. Which ends

Probably depends what you mean by market. Do people read them? Sure. Are you trying to see if this is a viable business? Probably not. It sounds like you're stuck and looking for an easy solution. Shit happens. Some hackathons just don

Here is a different source, very different numbers, but GoDaddy is just many times bigger than anyone else. They are also growing (in absolute terms) faster than anyone else. http://www.registrarowl.com/report_registrar_tota

We'll have to agree to disagree on how it was meant then. They bought the DLS system which turned them into the dominant player on both sides of the market today by a large margin. They own the market now.
