There is a difference if you plan to sell your heart, body, soul, dreams, and best years to Google for 300k one day and put down $200,000 on a house so you aren't just throwing away money and can leave with a million USD asset one day

There is genuinely little reason to believe that modern-day Russia isn't run by the mafia and the KGB, as long as you define "run by" as "government mainly compromised of current/prior members."

That's the "natural potential plateau" question - if we are to believe this theory, then it means that you can reach your absolute maximum potential in 10-15 years. I am not so sure - I wonder if there are ways, in some field

The theory is that your ability to memorize a 7 digit number (working memory) IS fluid intelligence. The problem is that memorizing an x digit number is proven to be trainable, without much carry over to g or even other working memory tasks

Fluff article with misleading quote: "In this view, knowledge does not compensate for a declining adult intelligence; it is intelligence!" This doesn't introduce anything of interest to people who already know that fluid inte

In our case, it's a bunch of senior citizens who stand outside and stare down anyone who walks in and immediately call the police if someone parks in a reserved spot. I am genuinely amazed at how petty they are. They also upgraded the

I feel the need to "me too" here. I use MDN almost exclusively now, but W3 schools helped me a TON before I could understand MDN.

Nowhere in the fundamental Buddhist tenets did I see anything about "transforming." All I see is "Desire causes suffering, learn not to desire anything to free yourself from suffering." Which, to me, sounds a whole lot l

Meditations gave me nothing that I didn't get from reading a few of Aurelius' quotes. One of those books that you expect to be great and it disappoints. The problem with stoicism is the same problem as the problems with Buddhism&#

The article is misleading. It should say "Seniority is not about time spent at a company, but skill level." If you are "senior" only through being with one company for a long time, you will have a very hard time intervie

That's true. Ideally it would be both - very clear explanations WITH code snippets, which are important to avoid missing "that one little thing" for half an hour when writing code from scratch.
