Absolutely right and seems to be wishfully unaware that visiting US sites will trigger the same insane data collection as in the EU (but you can object as a EU citizen). A typical site might integrate 100 to 1000 trackers. Neither Google no

I would rather like to see a file explorer launcher such as Listary [1]. The ability to quickly navigate to files and folders is much more important to me than launching apps. [1] https://www.listary.com/

GPT-4 might have cost 100m to train, but how much does it cost to run? If we look at NVIDIAs profits roughly 10x that annual revenue number is spend on hardware from NVIDIA each quarter.

They mention running this cost them money (likely for hosting and Firebase). Isn't there a way that this could be entirely distributed?

Unlikely that you need more than 10kwh. You just want to cover morning and evening electricity consumption. During the day you recharge and consume directly.

Current European/German prices for home storage of 2-10kwh are at 400-500 EUR per kwh. https://geizhals.de/?cat=bmseswresp&sort=t&hloc=at&hloc=de&v...

In the 8 to 10 years panels will be even cheaper. Probably half of today. The price trajectory is still falling.

1. The price drop for batteries has been huge. They are down to 3000 EUR where I live. 2. Domestic solar is just a way to save money. If you bought more than you need then you wasted money. A typical consumer would be fine with 10 kwp syste

Thank you! Sounds plausible. China also spends a lot on subsidies for their solar industry (at least this is often mentioned).

120bn EUR would be more than Germany spends on electricity generation in total (considering that Germany generates a bit less than 600bn kwh p.a. in electricity and wholesale electricity prices were €95.18/MWh in 2023)

Most national central banks are well aware and aren't printing money at will. But certainly some monetary easing can generate quite some wealth.

Germany does pay 12 month of unemployment benefits (at 60% of previous salary with a cap). If you quit (rather than being fired), you don't get benefits for the first 12 weeks. This is an okay balance in my mind.

On the other hand nuclear was just 6% of the energy mix in its last year. On the other hand Germany is aiming to building out 13 GW of solar in just 2024 (capacity factors non-withstanding).

Never is a very strong word. In particular considering what changed in just 100 years in medicine. It is hard to imagine that any kind of textual computer input will persist more than 20 years in the future.

We want to get to net zero by 2050 not 2030. At the current growth of 2-3% per year plus some acceleration we might get there.

Solar has become a commodity technology and it largely won't matter who is manufacturing it. Solar also is primarily replacing energy imports. So many not spend on buying gas/oil/coal is now being spend on buying solar panels
