The invention of dynamite was a great technical success. The technical achievement here is not so special, but the implied goal (removing user rights by switching from a GPL to an MIT/BSD operating system on billions of devices) is.

I would go further: software should always be optional in any hardware purchase and the price of hardware with software should be higher than the price of the hardware alone. Discount bundles with software + hardware should not be allowed.

Did you measure the latency? Latency should be below 100ms to have a pleasant conversation. Talking over a dedicated low-latency app like Jamulus is much nicer than the enormous latency in video calls.
