Being a PhD student at UCLA (or over public universities) was arguably risky in the best of times. When I applied to grad school a decade ago, I got an offer from UCLA Math and it was notable that funding was not guaranteed beyond the fir

Explaining the value of fundamental research and long term societal investment to some crypto bro is an utter waste of time. Polar opposite mindset.

The one-liner is “emails you receive may be forwarded”. Article is really confusing and oversells the attack. See my other comment https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44680400 .

This is a very confusing read. It gives the impression that the attacker managed to manipulate the email body to insert their phishing link, by talking at length about how the sites.google.com link is suspicious (of course it is, no doubt a

Pretty sure OS X and macOS should be combined, not doing that feels like amateur hour, very puzzling. But even with that in mind, you see wild ups and downs as large as 3.5% a month from 10/24 to 11/24 to 12/24 to 01/25

Not in my case. I only give Terminal and iTerm “Developer Tools” permission. Cursor shows up under “Full Disk Access” with a toggle so it may have requested the permission at some point, but I have it on disable; I don’t see why it needs to

Wrong, bash scripts can pop up a series of permission prompts on macOS if you do a full disk scan. They’re only suppressed when directly run from an application like Terminal that’s already been given full disk access or developer tools per

To add another point of comparison, at the moment this is almost matching the velocity of DeepSeek R1 from Jan 20 to Jan 29, which, if you recall, was such a hot topic it triggered a huge market crash: https://www.star-history.co

The overlap between CapCut enthusiasts and GitHub users is not that big. Non-technical TikTok/Instagram influencers aren’t flocking to GitHub to star the project, not to mention it’s useless to them at this stage. This kind of project,
