The parents might be afraid that their child could "fail" such an assignment, even if it's elementary school and the children aren't graded.

I'd say it's the parents. Listening to parents of elementary school kids they seem to get confused or angry if there isn't one single right answer to an assignment. For example drawing shapes one line at a time and listing th

What's the exact probability of "it will rain tomorrow" or "You'll visit the beach sometime"? Maybe the point was to figure out that there are some known and unknown factors that affect both probabilities while

None of the videos work on Chrome version 34.0.1847.131 / OS X 10.9.2. Just a black screen and the play head stays at 0:00.

One of the reasons why you think TypeScript isn't the answer is "TypeScript doesn’t fix anything in JavaScript". You seem to fall into the trap of saying "Don't use JavaScript or anything that's like JavaScript

To be fair the comments were pretty grim for the first hour. Positive comments seem to take more time? I'd hate to be the author and see that kind of response.

The most important feature of Sass is saving your fingers by not having to write those curly braces and semicolons. Everything else is a nice bonus.

Points for trying to use a logarithmic scale, it just doesn't extend low enough. Edit: I see it's fixed now.

Any language where you can avoid curly braces is superior to those where you can't. (Really, it helps with my RSI :) Of course if you have existing CSS it might make sense to use LESS / SCSS.

Does it depend on pot being legalised or not though? I'd believe people who want to smoke pot do it already.

One trick to make the UI feel good and snappy is to make the animations fast. For example in this form the security question help fades in way too slow, making the whole form feel slow and brittle.

Why is it bad to start working while it's dark outside? The problem I have with DST isn't the summer time, but the "normal time". It just doesn't make any sense to me that it's light at 7am and dark at 5pm when

The list of faces bugs me too. It's also heavily used in Facebook demos. But in real life people are either ugly or don't have a sensical profile picture from which you could recognise them.

I had the same exact feeling at 25. My advice would be to work on small, achievable (side) projects and focusing on finishing each project before starting a new one. I remember having lots of ideas but never really finishing anything great

Same thing on a year old MBP. I installed the basic Oh My Zsh package and a new terminal sometimes takes 5-10 seconds to initialize. Are there some tricks that would make it faster? I mainly use the Git-plugin.

Yes, the designer in this project naturally wanted both a border and a box shadow. I don't know how to accomplish that in CSS without using additional elements. I'm currently using strategy #1, hoping that nobody notices :)
