Wouldn't you then need to sync the randomly generated salt across browsers? That doesn't seem so stateless anymore.

New year's resolutions don't work. The resolutions are usually unreasonable ("I'll eat only healthy foods from now on") and external ("I'd like to be seen as a person who runs every morning"). If you

Read the article, it's good. The problem is that the series was designed to look good and "work" in 4:3 ratio. This means that many of the decisions on how to direct a scene were made with the aspect ratio in mind. An example

In addition to the cheap & bad / talented founders pools there's also the pool of expensive and talented workers who just want to code. I mean, I wouldn't move to the US to work for half of what you make if I'm doing

Maybe I'm using it wrong then :) The only time I play anything on SoundCloud is when I follow a link from Facebook or elsewhere to listen to a specific song or mixtape. Anything else playing after that, no matter how relevant, is not w

Auto-advance might be tolerable (probably not) if it continued to other songs by the same artist. Or if it was somehow predictable.

First, I don't think Apple hardware is expensive when you compare it to other machines with similar specs. The reason for building my own Hackintosh was mostly getting a machine that was good for gaming (a powerful GPU). It wasn't

I don't understand why Youtube comments even exist. It's not a forum where you could have an intelligent discussion about a topic.

Maybe it would be wise to stop participating in the movement if everyone outside the movement seems to agree it's about harassment and misogyny? It doesn't look like GamerGate could achieve anything useful at this point.

That was maddening. I'm now testing autoConvert [1], a Chrome extension that promises to convert units automatically. [1] https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/autoconvert-auto-c...

It surprising how little plans for fixing global warming are discussed. Most of the discussion deals with preventing global warming by reducing carbon dioxide emissions, which is of course something we need to do. But if we agree that there

Developers would be better off trying their apps on a $25 phone. Of course you might want to use a more powerful device for development, but the risk there is that low-end testing and code optimisation is left as a last minute step.

The situation is improved by other people knowing there's a problem. The other people will pay more attention to spot thieves and try to stop them. The point is to make society less welcoming for thieves.

The situation is improved by telling people that "yes, thieves actually exist and stealing causes real harm". People who have not experienced harassing tend to downplay it à la "Well I haven't seen it happen", "

Same here. I've been doing user research on the subject, and while there are some clear problems to solve they might not just be worth solving.

Ice swimming is easier in the coldest months when the water is a lot warmer than the air. Only the most hardcore swimmers do it in April when the air is warmer than the water. Also I have never heard of someone taking cold showers at home t
