The article you linked to has been debunked already. Claiming that's how DRM works is not very useful.

You can set f.lux to start dimming 10 hours before you wake up by selecting 'working late' from the dropdown menu in preferences and by setting the time in '7:00 is when I wake up'. I think the option has been there sinc

Releasing movies and TV shows simultaneously around the world would cut piracy a lot. That's one pretty clear criteria: the content is sold in a digital format somewhere but not in your home country. Take the Sherlock TV series for exa

There was an IRC channel (or an idea of one?) where saying anything that was said before would lead you to be kicked. Edit: linked elsewhere in this thread: http://blog.xkcd.com/2008/01/14/robot9000-and-xkcd-s

I've seen this in London too. I don't mind it. It's probably more effective than all the other security theatrics in an airport.

I support your plan of talking with people, and setting a goal for interaction is something others could also benefit from. Just a heads up: some people _really_ don't want to talk with anyone, some are busy, and some are just dicks. A

Haven't heard anyone calling it ridiculous before, but that might be our individual Facebook bubbles in action. The reaction to the slippery slope argument I've seen has always been more of a "Sure, why not? But let's fi

Waiting for some Lawyer to explain why they think this is or isn't great. But mostly out of interest. The old patent grant never prevented me from using their projects.

I read it as "don't spend your time trying to find / meet (real) investors", along the lines of #47 "You're probably either building or fund raising." Also that meaningful investments don't necessaril

I'm not so sure if it's the standard? I've seen many startups that took 6-12 months to ship the first version of their product. Usually the owners had read Lean Startup but still wanted to fix that one more thing before relea

I don't see a problem in a manager participating. But what would the manager do if backlog is handled by the PO and work load by the dev team? I think any process would break down if a manager decides to fly solo and push extra work ou

The problem in open offices is that I DON'T see people around me working hard. Instead they are talking about dogs, what kind of candy they prefer and how their friend found someone from Tinder. It's super hard not to listen, even

Building and application doesn't automatically mean discarding accessibility, SEO or sane URLs. Modern JS-frameworks like React handle them quite easily.

Mostly personal experience :) I have stopped drinking alcohol for a year, coffee a couple times for few weeks at a time, and sugar for couple days at most. Never tried smoking though. IMO drinking both coffee and alcohol casually leads more

Coffee has similar withdrawal symptoms as sugar: huge headaches, cravings, and feeling like shit for two weeks. I'd say alcohol is way easier to quit for example.

To be fair io.js also focuses on stability and communicating the stability through proper use of semantic versioning. It's not like io.js wouldn't be production ready.

On my slightly older MBP (2011) the plugin caused performance issues. Mainly hanging when opening a new tab and navigating somewhere. Other extensions have had same problems, so I might need to move into filtering ads at network level.

The more specific your mockup is, the narrower the feedback will be. For example, using colors or text in a mockup often limits the feedback to "I don't like this particular shade of blue" or "There should be our slogan
