I had to do exactly that with o2 Germany. They continued to charge me after the contract expired. And they even tried to charge for the router that I actually sent back.

That post really resonated with me. I attempted making my own ESP32-based remote for controlling my media centre while I'm in my kitchen, or generally away from my laptop. The nature of embedded with interrupts (e.g. from buttons) and

Maybe don't try this experiment with an ex-communist-state cities full of dreadful concrete blocks of flats.

As a point of reference, many hotels in China have windowless rooms. I wouldn't want to live in one, but, for a short stay I actually preferred it. There was much less noise in these "internal rooms". Normal rooms usually g

Can you have a career in finance as an engineer with Python and without C/C++ (professional) experience? Your post really made think it, it's an attractive area to work in.

Very interesting story. I'm actually impressed, you're allowed to give us such "internals" about GS.

Wouldn't you need to be a customer of one of the underwriting banks? Or, conversely, one level removed, so a customer of one of the big banks on the "VIP list" of initial buyers. I always thought retail-facing brokers are jus

I wish there was something open source and cross-platform like Synthesia. I find staff notation very frustrating but still want to learn to play existing music, at times.

Never mind what new features will come, I hope it'll always be backwards compatible with MIDI 1.0. MIDI today is so universal and so easy to understand, even on the very low hardware level.

Firefox, very annoyingly, still doesn't support WebMIDI. I know it's a very niche use case but still. I normally use Firefox but have to pull up Chromium just for that one feature.

Oh, don't you worry. Average person's labour being taxed highly is not considered a problem. It's rather a solution to many problems.

And yet Singapore has low taxes (by some considered even a tax haven) and is not a welfare state. That is by design, LKY having been a big supporter of personal responsibility.

If anything, if there are unions, they keep the engineers salaries down. At least that was my experience in Berlin, Germany. Unions don't want "privileged" engineers to earn much more than average office worker.
