What seems weird about this is that he did very little of actual 'beating Kickstarters to the market'. If you read the article, he is just selling things that are already listed on alibaba(so it's the chinese manufacturers wh

Thats certainly true. Usually, these cases are done with money transfers in Europe, which is not really reversible (on the other hand, this is where many people use Paypal, which also gives you the money-back feature of a CC).

But then, it is not that easy to defraud the EC cards, since you need the physical card to make a payment with them (in addition to a PIN that is usually needed to authorize the payment).

While you may or may not agree with his opinion or the way he worded it, a personal attack on him is really unwarranted (besides, I don't even get what's that bad about his job description?!). I think we can all agree that it is n

Your link explicitly mentions that the equipment found in this specific vessel is probably not the original one: Speaking of equipment, it was obvious the submarine was stripped of any useful electronic equipment, such as navigation or com

It is deterministic, but you still need to keep track of a field that covers your whole configuration space (basically you need all the information contained in a function R^n->C for n degrees of freedom). Keeping track this high-dimensi

Hi, thanks for replying. I think the idea of a distributedly mirrored wikipedia is great, so thanks for this project (even if some users seem to encounter high cpu load using it). So, do I understand correctly that each page (that has been

Ok, that's not too unreasonable (especially if you need to download an extension anyways). If you make delta updates available for changed pages, this should actually be reasonably small once you have done the initial download.

Thanks for actually looking into the mentioned problems instead of going on a tangent about climate change ;) CacheP2P seems to solve the problem by including a list of sha1 hashes for all files that are distributed through P2P. Speculation

Let's reformulate it then: topics where some actors have a strong incentive (monetary or emotional) to manipulate other peoples opinion.

At least in europe there was an LTE version that had an SD-card slot, an actual compass and gyroscope and the eponymous LTE support. My girlfriend still uses it and is a really nice phone (except for the, by now, ridiculously bad camera).

You can get very similar functionality for git with "magit", which is an emacs package for managing git. That said: Partially commiting files is indeed very handy and it would be great if it was available to more people.

Not to sound too snobby (I would have notrecognized the Newton-Raphson method is by its name either), but I think it is at least plausible to figure out the method on the spot. If you either know how the first order of a Taylor series looks

I think using arch as its basis would clash too much with their target audience. I have not tried Antergos or Manjaro, but at least arch itself is often rather high-maintenance due to its rolling release nature. I think someone looking for

As long as not all the memory is actually used, you can pretend that there is 20GB though. Once you actually need to map more than there is, you would need to stop the virtual machine. If you read e.g. the Bostrom 2003 paper, you will see t

If I understood correctly, the decision not to use an RTG was also due to its weight. That said, it seems there is not much know-how about RTGs at ESA, which is most likely also influenced by political reasons.
