WhatsApp does/might (who knows, they are not transparent about it and it is closed source) employ the same end-to-end encrypted protocol as Signal does (for some users): http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014&#

I think in this context it might be interesting that WhatsApp is actually using the same end-to-end encryption employed by Signal/Textsecure for some users. This encryption is in general considered superior to the strange protocol Tele

Well, there is a bit missing in this story. The City Palace was actually demolished during the GDR time and replaced by the "Palast der Republik" (the palace of the republic). This Palace of the Republic (which did not really look

Speaking of ResEdit, does the resource fork still exist in modern MacOS incarnations? I still remember that I used to rip the graphics of Escape Velocity (Nova) by simply copying them out of the resource fork of some file (was it the execut

In my opinion the Ubuntu LTS basis of eOS can be annoying for someone needing the latest packages, but is quite a boon for someone who just wants the computer to function and be predictable. With Fedora, a new version comes out every 6 mont

You can do this e.g. with photon polarization. Measuring here is very simple since it is achieved by sending your light through a linear polarizer. If you send light through a chiral medium, the orientation of the polarization would normall

The Zeno effect is basically due to disruption of the quantum state. You measure repeatedly in some basis and this basically pins the state down (in this basis representation) even though it would not stay in this state if you did not inter

At least the GPG authors seem to be of the opinion that in order to make their programm usable for a larger amount of users, TOFU would be a good idea [1]. I don't see why hiding the trust-building from users is necessarily such a bad

I think that your points 2) and 3) are not perfectly reasonable if you really want to reach those who are not yet using encryption. If you look at how keychains are usually used nowadays, they are an implementation detail you could and prob

But the idea of perfect forward secrecy is not that your locally stored mail is securely encrypted in the future, but instead that mail that was intercepted in transfer should not become readable, even if your key is later recovered. With y

I think the idea is that it does not promise that the email will necessarily be deleted, but that it can be securely deleted (by forgetting the key for it) such that it can not be recovered later by compromising the users computer. So if I

Can you actually read the public key from the card? A secure system should sign the transaction on the chip, so even a manipulated machine could not steal the card data.

I don't know too much about the protocol used by these cards, but it would be easy to e.g. have a secret key on the chip, which signs the transaction (date and time, amount, location) if the right PIN is provided to it. Even listening

I think what you see there is not necessarily an indication of the simulation happening in 3-d space[1]. It is however evidence of [precession]( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precession ), which should not happen in a 2-b

Very interesting approach. I think one interesting aspect of this is that it couples spatial as well as temporal interpolation. This means that you get a higher resolution as well as a higher framerate, but on the downside seems to introduc
