You're right. They did say this was a serious attempt to address mosquitoes and disease. I apologize for thinking this was just for shits and giggles. In regards to it's design for that purpose I think it's probably awful.

I think they're an awful addition to driver controls. You simply cannot be distracted while driving for more than a few seconds before you're endangering yourself and others and there is no good place to put them that doesn't
