Don't take money unless 1. You really need it 2. You feel the VC can give you something nobody else can When you take money from an investor you are selling YOUR own equity in turn reducing your ownership.

A lot of sports have competitions for "masters" only which is typically 40+ years old So you could learn to sail in your 30s, spend 10 years getting good (need plenty of time on the water and coaching) and then enter the masters.

Great question and could be a fun project. What is stopping a group of developers making a sat phone using a third-party satellite service. I am pretty sure AWS has ground base or something....

Similar situation to me about a year ago. I knew it would take me time to learn the quirks but if your new employer is happy for you to learn python then that is great. The best way to learn is by doing. Maybe play around with making a web

Crypto and NFT is one big ponzi scheme. Who on earth is spending $000,000s on a virtual ship? I sense it is a case of somebody close to the NFT or virtual world buying the asset and making out it is a great thing and then selling it on quic

Most professional engineers are using some sort of virtualisation (docker or vagrant) with the language inside it. I never use the OSX standard version of PHP or Python

Sorry for the delay with this! Snyk is a bit fiddly and I'm not totally sold with the reporting/monitoring and how they work with branches. However they monitor Docker images which is key for me. If GitHub offered Docker images sc

I work for a Dutch bank based out of the UK. My issue is they can only issue me a UK contract. I was thinking about moving over to Dubai for a few obvious reasons. My main challenge is if I want to go back to contracting properly I need to

Now - 1) Went from being a contractor on a good day rate to being forced into being an employee (IR35 for the UK readers) 2) Taking a 13% pay cut 3) Due to point 1) I have zero money going into my business account 4) The business owes the g

A developer is an architect of solving problems. The language is the material / tool used to solve the problem in question. As we learn we know when to use X tool or language to solve Y problem.

Not a huge fan of managing something as critical like this. GitHub has a dependancy management tool and also Snyk is a great addition to our pipeline for code packages and Docker Images. Using both in production.
