   PostgreSQL has a feature called Foreign Data Wrappers. It's certainly not what th OP imagins, but still pretty cool to query and join external data sources.

   Rolling your own distro is a sensible thing to do for a big installation. Thanks to open source, you can take an existing distro (Ubuntu, in this case) and modify it, until it suits your needs. Some people prefer to call such a thing »spin«
