And if not that, a copy to clipboard feature would be the next best thing - right now highlighting also grabs the extra text so copy/pasting these takes a bit of extra work and cleanup.

I can imagine that while Evernote has a lot of data to store, it doesn't have the massive amount of concurrent reads that might occur with an equally large web app. Do they publish numbers on read/write usage?

Salon articles are constantly on the top feeds in Pulse News for me, and they're usually quite compelling. I've never regretted reading any of their articles.

Here's a good tip I picked up recently when working with numbers: Increment a number on or after the cursor with Ctrl-A and decrement with Ctrl-X in normal mode. Saves a few keystrokes over having to replace or enter insert mode.

I always knew that there was something off about the Mac OS X mouse pointer, but no one I knew really thought anything of it. Coming from using high end gaming mice on Windows machines for 8+ years, I could feel the difference with the mous

To me, it really doesn't matter if you maintain your plugin settings in your .vimrc or in separate files, as long as it's well annotated and organized the way you like it. Plus, all I have to do is track my .vimrc in my dotfiles repo and le

Awesome news! I was searching on Cydia the other day to see if there was a vim package available... but I'm definitely happy to see this.

I can't believe this guy is representing part of Austin, where many web-based companies are located. I have to wonder why he authored the bill.

What that sounds like to me is using Facebook as a platform for spreading the message. If you black out Facebook, it dampens the ability for the message to propagate out to people who don't know about SOPA, i.e. a majority of the Facebook p

Tumblr placed a banner at the top and it generated huge amounts of calls to local reps (I think over 12k?). I could see this happening on a much larger scale should Facebook and Google do the same and all without interrupting service.

I wonder how much of an impact it would be if Scala simply had better documentation . I love the terseness of the code and the complex things you can do, but I'll be damned if I could ever glean ideas from looking at method definitions rat

What is your father's opinion on it after educating himself? I'd be interested to know the average person's viewpoint before and after learning about SOPA.

Perhaps it's not Scala but the paradigms that define it that are "state of the art". Multiple paradigms like functional programming, OOP, and other nice syntactical things make Scala very much a language of the future, even if its current i

When it comes down to it, many trolls feel the need to bash another language, OS, etc. because it's a form of self-validation: your choice says something about you. You'll see the same kind of thing with the "wars" over PC/Mac, Xbox/PS3, Em

One of my primary use-cases is to save web pages that I wouldn't want to necessarily bookmark, which I normally do for frequently visited pages. Then, I can search saved notes (which searches page content too!) for whatever I need.
