Since 2003 that has only gotten better. My turbocharged engine gets 35mpg on the highway while putting out 240hp on demand. 2003 cars couldn’t do that. my 2000 A4 with mods put out 250hp and had some sort of vacuum leak every other week,

I think it’s a little nuanced than that. In your example if trade activity is ceased 30 days prior to tax reporting then the tax liability is only $1M. If stock B got stuck in the wash rule then you are on the hook for the complete $10M.

Problem is when “your code” isn’t yours but your employers. Don’t get me wrong this is not a new problem, but you should be aware that simply linking the answer to a comment (esp in a closed source code base) isn’t sufficient
