Thanks for sharing your experience but I have a hunch you didn't read the article carefully. Over all ECS is great. It took hard work to get here but I am easily managing hundreds of production clusters. I am seeing excellent reliabili

I talked about some of this in another post comparing ECS to Joyents Triton. http://stackshare.io/convox/amazon-ecs-vs-joyent-triton Triton does an incredibly good job of hiding servers. There is one big flaw with this

I agree in general. You want to keep everything as simple as possible. If you have a simple, small service, or don't deploy too frequently, traditional server management will be better

I didn't realize ElasticBeanstalk delegated to ECS. Thanks for sharing. ElasticBeanstalk does have some serious simplicity advantages for the type of apps it was designed for. I'll definitely second your opinion that raw ECS can b

That's an awesomely aggressive deployment rate and a great reason to do instance mutation. Does something verify every commit in the testing environment too?

It's really hard to replace the simplicity and reliability of letting ASG (and generally CloudFormation) roll out new instances. However best practices always evolve... I'd say that rolling out containers on ECS is starting to rea

Great article. The Sysdig team really knows how to root cause tough problems. The Sysdig tools can be invaluable for getting and making sense of low level data. If you want to play with ELBs, rolling deploys, connection draining to ECS cont

There's a genuine question in there that would be easier to get an answer without your judgements... OS X Hypervisor Framework, which this uses via xhyve, is only available starting on OS X Yosemite v10.10. https://developer

The parent has a great point about credentials and ssh-agent in general. Netrc isn't a great pattern. But for git you have the right answer. I completely forgot this aspect because on OS X you can delegate git auth to Keychain with a h

I work on Convox, an open source PaaS. Currently it is AWS only. It sets up a cluster correctly in a few minutes. Then you have a simple API - apps, builds, releases, environment and processes - to work with. Under the hood we deploy to EC
