This isn't a dilemma unique to encrypted comms or privacy. You have to weigh the net benefits to society as a whole. How much has the lack of secure communication and encryption at rest cost society? How much have the criminals you men

I haven't read anything comprehensive about how much damage the tarriffs have done to businesses, especially those that rely on procurement contracts that suffered compounded price increases. But a sudden drop in jobs would be a pretty

> How much do you think did you think equifax saved by skimping on security? Probably not $575M. They got pwned by an outdated third party library. There's no way keeping your libraries up to date is going to cost anywhere near that

This is confusing. No one (I know) who zealously supports open hardware also thinks that "closed ecosystem" software should be eliminated or undermined. Making hardware friendly to multiple implementations is good for everyone.

Thinking about this a bit - you'd have to isolate any interaction the LLM has with any content to some sort of middle end that can audit the LLM itself. I'm a bit out of my depth here, though. I don't know what Microsoft does

Heard, but since the content or its metadata must be surfaced by the LLM, what's the fix?

Hard to count the number of things that can go wrong by relying directly on an LLM to manage audit/activity/etc. logs. What was their bug fix? Shadow prompts?

I mean... don't let perfect be the enemy of good? I'm insisting that even the barest minimum of human/manual involvement solely on account signup would be a major security improvement. It would be exhausting to have to audit

I don't understand how a mere account signup is the bar for publishing packages. Why not queue the first few publishes on new accounts for manual review?

Hehe, a little upsetting that I only see one former UO player in these comments right now. I loved the anarchy and never stopped missing it through FFXI, WoW, and other MMO's. There was a rivalry between EQ and UO and no one I knew inc

Anyone else's YouTube home page just a white screen telling you to type in the search box? Because after reading this blog I might ask the author for some stock tips.

For those wondering this is a common paraphrase of Grant Allen and Mark Twain. Here we say "Never let school get in the way of a good education."

A few comments here have hinted at this: we don't need to have a debate about penalizing platforms for the fraud of the users, everyone agrees that's problematic. The reason this directive confuses me is because very often the fra

We need a project in the spirit of Spamhaus to actively maintain a list of perpetrating IPs. If they're cycling through IPs and IP blocks I don't know how sustainable a CAPTCHA-like solution is.
