Does the journey have to be difficult to make the destination worth it? I suppose it does. Doesn't feel that way when you're still on your way though.

Getting involved is a dream of mine, but it's been quite difficult for me to get my foot in the door, so to speak.

As a young person (21), I feel the same way. Space exploration and a beautiful future suddenly seems achievable with hard work and a lot of engineering instead of just feeling impossible.

Hopefully! Better nootropics are needed! It does seem to be quite expensive from chemical suppliers. We really need to solve that protein folding problem so chemicals can just get synthesized through protein factories...

Getting LaTex running through wasm would be great. Tools like this, which just interact mostly with the filesystem, are a great example of what non-web wasm can do by simplifying the distribution process.

That's incredible! Do you have any advice for how to build a network like that?

Unfortunately, I find that many companies, especially in engineering it seems, require a linkedin account to apply for internships. Honestly, I don't really mind having it, probably because I don't get much spam. On the other hand

Would be nice if this tech got copied and started showing up in asian tech markets. Phased arrays are super cool and affordable ones would be useful for a lot of different projects.

The work around would be microfluidic coolers, which aren't production ready yet, I believe.

No, I'll be manufacturing them. There are alternative ways of making cantilevers with atomically-sharp tips. Tungsten wire, for instance, can be etched down to less than a few nanometers. And the quartz clocks in almost all electronic

This is a really inspiring comment. I'm an engineering student who's kind of mentally stuck between the worlds of computing and bio. I want to do research in biotech, but I'm having trouble finding the will to do it for some

I think about unified memory a lot. CPUs are extremely powerful these days but are often hindered by memory latency (hence growing cache sizes). Co-locating memory on the cpu die, maybe even stacking it, would go a long way to improving per

I'm not sure what "efficient" means in this context. I think the only way to make appreciable amounts of graphene using this method would be to literally have millions or billions of AFMs all working in parallel on a single s

I love this idea, but I think that VR actually has a great opportunity here. Basically a professional (or less anime VRchat) would be great for remote conferences and workplaces once vr headsets come even further down in price.

What on earth is a "pure webassembly/javascript port"? It's gotta be one or both of those to run in a browser regardless. Is it just ffmpeg compiled to wasm through emscripten?

I've never really bothered to learn lisp, but this is incredible. I get it now. That being said, I wonder how data types would work as opposed to lists. What would a language based around maps look like?

Okay, to be fair, cost-effective SSTOs would be possible with the 50x strength/weight ratio increase you get from molecular nanotechnology. That particular example doesn't require 4 to 5 orders.

Folding@home hit 2.43 exaflops earlier this year [0]. I'm surprised massively distributed computing isn't being looked into with more fever. It looks like it had somewhere around a 670,000 GPUs running in parallel with ~1.4 millio
