I often buy an ebook to support the author, but then pirate the book in an epub format, which ends up being more user-friendly since I can read it on multiple different computers and in the ebook software that works best for me.

Something taking a while for someone to think of it doesn't mean that only one organization should be allowed to make it. It took hundreds of thousands of years for people to come up with the wheel. The concept of the wheel isn't

Extropians had a lot of ties (and significant crossover) with the people driving the idea of molecular nanotechnology around this time. I think Ralph Merkle and Robert Freitas, both pioneers in nanotech, were advisors for the Alcor cryonics

How good is the battery life for the prototype headsets? If the headset is small enough and lasts long enough, I could totally see myself tossing it in my backpack instead of a laptop.

That sounds amazing. Something I’ve been wondering is if matrix supports specifying custom UIs for rooms somehow. For example, could a room have the ui of an issue tracker without it being through an additional program or website?

A smartphone as reparable and upgradable as a framework laptop would be pretty neat. I’m not sure how possible that’d be though.

Since longevity and anti-aging treatments seem to be just a few decades away at this point, I don't think it's inherently bad if population growth is below replacement in most countries.

> Surrendering so much control to a computer might give some pause for thought Not sure why this would be — a computer is going to be much better at controlling it than a human.

This is fantastic. An open-source e-reader that has all the niceties that one expects from a kindle would be awesome, and this looks like it has the potential to eventually become that.
