You're inside a bubble though. The 100 MAU is certainly totally misleading, maybe 1/10 of that in reality, and something that's only out for a few months can easily rollercoaster up and down as people try it once for novelty

As Substack pivots from VC driven growth at all costs to needing to actually be profitable, they will slowly chip away at every one of those facets: domain will get more expensive (likely monthly), email list will be locked down or paid, co

In fact the more safeguards the dumber the model gets, as they published. Which is very interesting. You already have a model that consumes nearly the entire internet with almost no standards or discernment, whereas a smart human is incredi

I actually agree Google has gone downhill. Yet for the 8 or so examples I’ve tested where I saw hyped GPT results, every single one google answers, usually in the top snippet, always in the first result. For politics shopping and some other

I mean Google revolutionized search. Apple revolutionized personal computing. OpenAI revolutionized… rewriting things with slightly different wording? I’ve seen so many breathless people posting “this would have taken me so long to search”

The point of the blue checkmark, to both Twitter and their users, is to make the platform more valuable. Previously it was used to give more confidence that someone is famous. That worked. Now, it's changing purposes, but it makes as m

This is the simple and obvious solution that works but for some reason liberalism post-Clinton took a shift towards being not just less pro law and order, but actively anti. Housing is certainly an ingredient in the soup. So is inequality.

When the city is incentivized to hide it, the stats are hard to come by as they are the only ones able to keep stats. Talk to literally anyone who lived there for more than a few years and you'll heard endless stories of crimes against

Huh, I still interpret “this is clearly not a given” as a being contradictory reply to me saying it’s murky territory. I think they contain massive amounts of copyrighted data, and reproduce them exactly, and that’s why they don’t have a le

Sounds like you're agreeing they are legally in murky territory. Further, new laws get made in reaction to new things whenever they push an existing doctrine beyond the original ruling, and these are certainly in that territory.

These models will readily generate near identical outputs to copyrighted data, at length. This is not comparable to search.

It's very easy to show the models generating near-identical data to copyrighted data, which is enough to get courts to force them to allow discovery.

I'm genuinely asking for a good example here. I've tried a bunch and every time I find Google about 100x faster. I think GPT is good for some things, but search and recommendations it's like going back in time.

ChatGPT lists multiple things too. Also this ignores my original comment where I just typed the keywords from the vet notes and got IMHA right on the first result. That'd be about 100x faster using Google.
