Also so what if it tastes better with a bit of milk? I heard most people don’t even drink straight lemon juice they water it down! Proof positive lemonade sucks.

In low doses it is quite useful, as is its cousin amphetamine. Luckily caffeine is even safer, possible net benefit to health, has been in wide use for thousands of years, and smells and tastes amazing.

I think they are even bigger than you may think. Addictive behavior is dramatically turned down while not affecting normal desires somehow. I've noticed this quite starkly, and my sister as well who tried it (a lifelong nail-biter wh

I don't think React ever pitched view as a function of state actually. Many in the community latched onto that, and some React-inspired projects tried to make that a thing, but I'm positive that was never the pitch from the core t

Idk I picked it up for the first time basically just 6 months ago and had a blast from the start. I'd say 99% of people play rapid or faster time controls and never get into slogs, it's one of the least sloggy games I've play

No, not really. Compared to just about any game I’ve played it rarely gets stuck, and when you are up decisively it usually ends quickly. Also most everyone plays time controls that completely avoid this. Feels like people are reaching for

Most anyone just resigns if they know they're in a losing position, there's no rule forcing you to play it out.

I do too, I made this [0] 3 years before Svelte existed. But I don't think the "pretend it isn't" makes any sense, I actually like React more than Svelte for many reasons, but magic compilers and templates are two big on

I don’t think you could be more off, honestly. React revolutionized frontend development and made it dramatically better. Server side rendering for React has existed since very early in its lifetime. The rest of the snark looks silly in con

GraphQL out of the box doesn't make things optimized, but with any decent setup like Postgraphile, Hasura, or just DataLoader you do get highly optimized single-pass queries vs something like having many REST endpoints where the querie

But what’s better? In the end you need control over stuff, it’s almost like people want frontend to be magically easy but unfortunately there’s just the reality that either you have high abstraction but less control, or low abstraction and

We already had composable components server side with SSR, they just didn't query data inside the render loop. But that doesn't really gain much, if anything leads to slower overall performance as now instead of doing something li

I didn’t know Jason Bourne posted on HN. In all seriousness, where’s the threat of someone taking extremely high resolution scans of your iris unless you are truly rich/powerful/connected.

Why would you choose then to have two completely different ways of managing data? It’s insanity. It’s like saying “you can totally use kubernetes to deploy your app and then later switch to swarm and support both!” (And even that analogy do

Why do you assume the baseline density for places is almost always low? That to me seems like as unlikely of an assumption as assuming they are always at capacity or too high. For example to me the places I’ve lived - San Francisco is at a
