My goal is a non goal. Try to live in the present, enjoy leisure time, and stop stressing about always having to up-skill myself. As I near my 50s, I realise life is too short to always be working. It’s okay to take a break and just enjoy s

True - but it’s much easier to make an incomprehensible mess in more complex languages. Whereas blub language projects are pretty easy to decipher regardless of the state of the codebase.

Yup this is exactly it. In the middle class UK even cocaine use is normalized. When your parents are smoking weed, doing lines of coke, and drinking excessive amounts of wine/beer, it's not exactly cool.

Agreed. The original comment just made me think "good grief". No, scrolling on a website is not the same as doing lines of coke in the club bathroom.

It's not in the law... it's the guidance Ofcom is providing, linked in TFA, which I believe will be enforceable. https://www.ofcom.org.uk/siteassets/resources/documents/cons...

Pure fruit juice is not good for you. It has a super high concentration of sugar. The benefits of fruit are primarily the fiber contents, which is completely missing in juice.

Realise that code is a commodity. Don't build your entire professional experience around a programming language or specific tooling. Be a problem solver instead - and you will always have a job.

My knowledge is out of date now, but the main issues IMO are/were: - No concept of apiserver rate limiting, by design. I see there is now an APF thingy, but still no basic API / edge rate limiting. - etcd has bad scalability. It&#

It's more like $1000/mo I think. 300 would be a no brainer! In London UK we can get dedicated 1Gbps for ~450GBP/mo with 3k install fees.

Gl. I've yet to meet anyone that actually finished AoC. At some point the problems take 8+ hours to solve and people give up :).

I feel like Americans are all over the place. The top echelons of business in the US are very blunt and direct. The lower levels tend to be very indirect with lots of toxic positivity. I think this works out for capitalism and exactly fits

I've had a pretty similar experience in big tech. Some cultures do really seem to struggle with feedback (both giving and receiving). It can be a very painful work environment as a result - given I'm an incredibly direct person. T

1400 sq ft is a large terraced house in London and will cost over 1m GBP (so about 1.4m USD). Yeah, 1400 as "small" is very US oriented :). But having grown up in the US, I really miss the space of the houses.

As long as humans have had to work together, politics exist. Whether you are isolated from it is solely down to your manager and leadership. But it’s always there.
