It’s probably the main reason Tories got obliterated the last election. After it came out we had 1m net immigration (up from prior 500k which had already 2x’d the normal 250k net).

I do love Gnome. If only we had hardware to run it :/. I'm stuck on a MBP because it's the only laptop with a great screen, speakers, and battery life. Meanwhile my keyboard keys keep getting stuck after a year of usage, and

It's pretty depressing how society went from "that would never happen" to general apathy.

I still cannot get iOS to reliably use Kagi as my default search engine. I've tried the extension, etc. but nothing works reliably. It's madness - how is it market fairness when iOS literally forces you to use Google? I know Googl

After decades using Emacs and Idea, I have post traumatic configuration syndrome. So now I use VSCode and lazyvim/neovim. Which I can install anywhere in about 5 minutes and have a fully working environment with 0 effort and 1 breakage

I would love to get some insight from Nvidia engineers on what happened here. The 3 series and before were overbuilt in their power delivery system. How did we get from that to the 1 shunt resistor, incredibly dangerous fire-hazard design o

I'm pretty sure the majority of people I interview (in big tech) are now cheating with some kind of assistance. Usually it's obvious, but not always. I am just plodding along though, and hoping my company moves back to on-site int

Capitalism is the best system we humans have come up with at this point in civilisation, for all its flaws. It’s largely responsible for the technological, medical, and quality of life advances in the last 150 years. Please tell me a better

As someone that used to work in this world I find this opinion of “no value” pretty bizarre. There’s a lot of value in efficient markets with high liquidity and low fees, which companies like JS make possible.

The US has already jumped head first into the shit can. All those ideals of democracy I learned about growing up in the US - checks and balances, the rule of law, land of opportunity. It's all become a massive joke.

I live in the UK now, but grew up in the US. My own experience is pretty similar. I was also a highly sensitive kid so took the abuse pretty hard. I was bullied by both other kids _and_ by teachers. I still remember one teacher openly calli

I just bought all new parts for an SFF build with a 9800X3D and 5090. So I guess this is a timely post. I know it's overkill for my needs but I love building PCs - been doing it since I was 12, and it was my first job (working at PC Cl

This is fascinating. It seems obvious that this game was the direct inspiration for MtG, as Richard Garfield was a huge card game fanatic, and the number of unique effects it has in common (wraths, bounce, etc.) that are so iconic in MtG.

This is laughably false and easy to disprove. Blurbusters did an analysis of this many years ago and we won't get "retina" refresh rates until we're at 1000Hz.

Haha maybe, it's a bit contradictory to my first goal. I'm limiting myself to an hour a day at most of study right now. I might increase it (mostly w/ more immersion) but being mindful to not make it all time consuming.

Ah thanks for reminding me about this. Lots of films to catch up on this year! I love how international Sight and Sound’s list is too. I really enjoyed Kneecap and Perfect Days this year.
