I hope that this causes enough outrage that Discord starts to lose its effective-monopoly for gamers and other folks. The platform has been getting more and more shitty over time and it isn't healthy for one product to have this much p

Windows can implement these things as much as they like, but if you paste a command into CMD.exe, it can access your files with no popup like MacOS gives you.

My understanding is that it only surfaces the real keys when the request is actually sent under the hood, and doesn't make it available to the code itself, so that LLMs aren't able to query the key values. They have placeholder va

The article mentions that it's compute time spent deploying the code and not "wall clock" time, so I don't think it's quite this bad?

This entire thing seems very iffy. Not much in the way of concrete info, a lot of speculation, and I seriously doubt that MS will suddenly switch directions. It's just being modified/refactored into smaller suppositories over time

Many games do that, yes, though with varying degrees of success and often they get beaten by cheat tools. That's not to say that kernel-level anticheat can't get beaten, though there is a reason why games like Valorant have fewer

This sort of anticheat exists because cheat developers ruin the experience for players, and for games that intend to be competitive in a real sense, the integrity of the game. Cheat developers keep getting smarter, so anticheat developers n

Drivers are generally fine, but there's more to it than just switching. If you're not bothered by the Win11 stuff, switching is probably not for you. Perhaps you can look into Linux for your current use cases and see if it's

I'd switch if it weren't for anticheat breaking the games I play. I really, really hate Windows, and Windows 11 even more than normal levels of Windows hate. I had to do some really weird shit to get it to a place that feels sane.

They don't care. They generate large amounts of these, spam them out, and hope for some small success. If they get banned or blocked, they make new accounts. Shame isn't even a factor; it's all about money. They don't ev

Everything is "secret" now, I guess because it works to get clicks. If you believed Youtube videos now, there's nothing that isn't either secret, rare, or the best.

I wonder if this sort of thing can lead to faster burnout or such. I've sorta over time leaned toward guarding my own space/time since somehow I get more tired out, and over time more burned out, if I don't.

I've seen a lot of weird stuff out of this. People now get angry about things they didn't get angry about before, or get angry with people/players where that didn't exist before. If you're just someone playing a gam

I get that. Somehow this feels different. Mozilla recently changing the privacy policy I think caused a bunch of it, and then leaning heavily into AI initiatives at a time where I think people just don't want it, contributes too. It fe

I guess replies on this thread are evident that Mozilla has lost much of the trust and goodwill it once enjoyed. Admittedly I am also very skeptical that Mozilla has the ability or genuine interest to make this work.

I find it ironic that the article is warning against AI use while it uses an AI-made cover image. Surely they find the same fault with copyright issues and AI art? Right?
