I never spent much time with networking so a lot of it was a bit of a mystery to me so I spent the COVID time building out really awesome but overly built network. I learned a ton and can now actually understand what's going on under t

For me macos has easily the absolute window management of any WM system I've ever used. Everything feels unnatural and awkward and requires me to do exactly what you say, download 50 random apps to get it to behave in some even remotel

Seriously my Jabra's and Senny BT headphones pickup and work flawlessly with my Linux desktop. Meanwhile my Sennhesier headphones work sometimes with my POS mac to the point where I have to tell people If i don't immediately pick

Yeah I'm aware but I find it awkward and hard to use when I routinely have a browser and two editors open I have to remember to mentally switch keys to shift between the two sets It's just not for me

I use docker-mailcow for pretty much everything on a 20$/m linode instance and just use Postmark to do the actual delivery. Been sharing this setup with about 20 family/friends for a while now (5 years?)

A security company I contracted for has a policy when people are traveling to certain countries that they can't bring a company laptop or phone with them. They have to purchase a laptop while in the country to use and log onto the syst

Also can't do live migrations or backups and moving storage around is a headache. We've pretty much stopped using LXC containers in Proxmox because of all the little issues.

That's how I feel about it as well. My every day machine is Linux but I also have to use a Macbook and a Windows machine and of the three I absolutely hate using the macbook. It feels like very design choice in MacOS was purposely chos

I just did the same thing, replaced 3 24" 1080p monitors with a single 49" ultrawide and it's been a damn game changer. Can't believe I waited so long to do it.

Discovery really is hands down the biggest issue. I follow a lot of cool blogs and read a lot of neat stuff from them, but I found them mostly by stumbling upon them on Mastodon. Actually side note one of my favorite ways to kill time is by

I've used everything under the sun and for homelab use IMO nothing beats using docker-compose and salt. 1. Unless you have crazy dynamic scaling needs, there's literally no point in using k8s or nomad 2. Unless you want RBAC and f

To add to this, why is there a giant bar still at the top when someone screen shares that you can't really get rid of. Even if you toggle it and set "focus", which you need to _every time_, there's still a (smaller) bar.
