I have a friend that lives near Boston... He had to visit a hospital recently, while he never disclosed to me what his medical condition was, at the end he mentioned that his hospital bill was almost $1500... "Only to find out I'

AFAIK, you can go to medical school, but the problem is what happens afterwards. Each province regulates how many graduates get assigned to hospitals (or allowed to open family doctor practices). If the openings "aren't there&qu

Mikrotik sure looks daunting once you open winbox, but you can really ignore most of it until you need a specific feature. Setting up a switch with VLANs, or a wireless bridge is no different than on Cisco, its just got a fancy GUI. (Same

I would argue it's safer to stay behind a truck than to try to get in front of it... Between the blind spot in front of the bumper, and the stopping distance of a heavy truck, you're probably more likely to get rear-ended than dr

I would love to see repo platform owners do something about new project repos, but that doesn't do anything when a developer ragequits and puts malicious code in their own repo that's been around for years. Really, there is no goo

This sounds great and all, but I've seen so many instances of good extensions giving up when the browsers decide to make your extension unusable... IE Firefox deprecating NPAPI, google trying to force manifest v3, etc etc.

For the money she spent on the lawsuit, she could have spent it on sealing all the holes in her walls. You'd be surprised how many homes in the US aren't insulated properly.

Not to discredit what you're saying, but everyone seems to forget all the other employees at hospitals. I've been in Canadian healthcare IT for 20 years, and for the past 5-10 we've been overworked, understaffed, denied vacat

If your system is all zfs, there shouldn't be much in the Linux cache, except for cache from NFS shares... At worst, if your uptime is over month, you could just run sync and echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches (b

This sounds cool, but it would take a fair amount of changes for me to use it, since I bake the cmdline into the kernel and boot the kernel directly from the efistub. Maybe I'll check it out some day though.

I don't think they really need the two pool model, booting off efi(fat32) can load the modules, and importing the pool can be handled by the initrd. At least that's how I've been doing it on gentoo for years. Edit: handcuffi

Good luck finding a bylaw officer to enforce it, I've made many complaints in my city only to be told there's only one person and they never showed up... and this is in a city of 700k.

Sorry cloudflare, but my network, my rules. If I want to block an IP, there's nothing you can do to suggest me otherwise. Freeze Peach doesn't mean I'm obligated to have an empty firewall ruleset.

QEMU will let you emulate a particular cpu family, but you can't really tell it that you want a "486dx2 66 with 256kb of l2 cache". While 86box/pcem can't get 100% accurate, it's a lot closer than QEMU emulati

I looked into using oracle cloud servers this year, but gave up after a day or so because the interface was bad. They only called me once, because I hadn't used the account in a month. They've only emailed me once since then.
