It would have been nice for a writeup to have been included. Everyone wants to make a buck off YouTube hits.

If you work at my employer, having to write secure code seems to be the bane of these developers existence.

I bet for most folks on HN the mechanics and programming are the easy parts. The art is really what makes or breaks games. Could anyone give advice on getting started learning some basic art concepts that are applicable to pixel art /

Fun project. Would anyone actually ever run something like this in production over something like HAProxy?

I tried to learn calc to design an auto pilot system in a game designed in Unity using c#. I got frustrated and gave up =[

this article really hit home for me. With all of the cbt/lynda/udemy/YouTube/blablabla content out there, I'm usually exhausted after the info gathering phase. Putting a time constraint on that is smart. Like anoth

I run a CentOS box with Shorewall as the iptables wrapper as my router/firewall. We must be kindred spirits because I was running some ancient version of Tomato that i loved on an old buffalo AP only to find Tomato had basically died.

UDP is used when it's designed by network engineers. That's why we have VOIP and video streaming - all are served UDP. dont get me started on the lack of multicast out there. imagine game servers running multicast. one day.

As a network engineer, this was great. No body never bothers to learn networking. The article is annoying tho, basically says use UDP idiots. I mean, why do we think VOIP uses UDP? Same concept. If only more devs would implement multicast..

I used to take cabs from Penn to Lorimer Street and back all the time through 2007-11 when I didnt feel like switching trains - no problems. I don't want folks reading this to think cabs really don't go to BK.

interesting! I am a network engineer so I am curious to ask - what benefits would your tool bring me in my environment? 100+ branches, 3 large data centers, etc...

As a network/security guy, this was a great read. I mean, $199 retail for a product that basically breaks the speed of light? I threw some money at them. Ya never know!

I did similar. Had a mini atx centos box I ended up throwing on ESXi and getting it in the front of the network through some layer 2 magic. I love shorewall.

This was my thought as well. I guess it's a nice class for existing Python users to dive into performance testing with. Guys who have used Load Runner or something for years wouldn't use this but I might play with it since I am on

I'd go home if my bosses policy wasn't sit here until 5:30 no matter what. I think that's fairly common, at least in the US.
