I have a 9 year old gaming PC with an RX480 and it is only now starting to not be able to run certain games at all (recent ones that require ray tracing). It can play Cyberpunk and Starfield on low settings very acceptably.

In teams of high performers who have built a lot of mutual trust, code reviews are mostly a formality and a stop gap against the big, obvious accidental blunders. "LGTM!" I do not know or trust the agents that are putting out all

There's also another path to staying out of the spotlight - when you've been under the spotlight a couple times and got no reward at all from it.

This build demonstrate what’s actually interesting about FPGA to me. A pure implementation might as well be a software emulator. Being able to interface real chips makes this really neat.

Thank you for writing all of this so that I didn’t have to. And the exciting thing is I’m not even aware of many of those because I don’t play the same games and use different peripherals. If I listed out all my issues many would be unique

Is this really happening though?

Microsoft’s core competency is a general purpose operating system that can be used for anything and work with infinite combinations of hardware. The fact that you can almost, sort of use a Windows PC as a gaming console, even with all the h

The goal with consoles is not to force people to give up control of their computers, it’s to create the best possible gaming appliance, which consoles succeed at.

This is a good comment, I don’t understand the downvotes. Anything that makes the PC gaming experience more like a console is good. This is the first gaming PC that I could actually justify putting in the living room.

I actually kept a journal of all the things I was noticing that were becoming memory holed almost day to day, just so I wouldn’t think I was going crazy. I’m not really interested in re-litigating any of it with anyone, though. Nothing good

COVID ended my trust in media. I went from healthy skepticism to assuming everything is wrong/a lie. There was no accountability for this so this will never change for me. I am like the people who lived through the Great Depression not

My neighborhood is full of kids on these things. The safety dynamics of driving around have changed completely. Small children flying on and off road at high speeds. It's crazy.

I think American English is the same colloquially. “I got fired” means I didn’t perform or did something wrong. “I got laid off” is our “I was made redundant”. “Fired” is also a technical term for both cases, in academic/economist spea
