Wait, does this mean I can use any spare tablet, laptop or smart TV as second monitor for, say M1 running Asahi? Wonder what's the performance for non-game usage?

Does good memory actually helps you advance in life? Or does it only make life more fun/interesting. I feel like remmbering things has never been an obstacle to my professional growth.

Why is this a big deal? Is it just the equivalence of copying eSIM via QR code or it can actually convert a physical SIM to eSIM in another phone?

what makes a bookmark manager a "productivity" tool? I thought the important thing in productivity is to produce, instead of merely (managing) consumption.

> HTMX as Configuration Bam, there you are, can't make programs with just configuration, that's a wet dream. The article also mentions IoC configuration, which is a horrible way to program, another thing that is only good on pa

> DP algorithms are "just" clever ways to cache a recursion This is what made it click to me. When I was in university, perhaps because of the prevalence of procedural programming at the time (as opposed to FP), DP looked magi

but you have to accumulate those little boosts to eventually reach C or D level where the compensation reaches a whole new level. This is like saying it aint worth studying because you still won't be employable by the end of the school

repeatability must mean different things to us, a cache hit is repeatability to me, a network call can easily fail for so many reasons

yes, even years ago before 1.0, Kotlin blended in with existing Java code pretty well, it's not that big a learning curve and adds a really nice std lib on top of Java. So I don't really relate to the framing that it competes with

no, pattern matching is more like destructuring AS CONDITIONS (eg: if object has this structure) of switch blocks. While destructuring is simply sugar for assignment, pattern matching is more complex. I don't know about Java but in som

Where is the source of this "Bejing institute"'s claim? That can at least show that they "claim" it "on behalf of" (the government of) China. Is it me or the title seems problematic?

I think blackouts are no longer needed. However, if you visit Hanoi and wonder why some streets are so dark even today, it goes back to last mid-year, when the authority decided they needed to save energy more aggressively.

yes, there is a theory on how the muscles of the eyes become "miscalibrated", so to speak, if you only look at close things. What is the exact mechanism of the "lower light" theory then?

the problem with playing indoor is that your "eye break" only goes so far as the walls of the space, still "close objects" in relative terms. In nature, humans use their eyes to gaze landscape, stars... really far things

you seem to think the real cause is "being inside" and not using your eyes in a particular way? (looking at close objects...). What is the exact mechanism by which being inside affects your eyes then?
