This is a terrible approach to teaching. I’ve been in high school classes where I played the TA role, and when I couldn’t switch to another class I started skipping. It slows down the students who learn too quickly for the class, there’s no

Yep, this is more or less what I meant by post evolution. We are clearly still changing by natural means, but for most of the existence of all living things in the world, change occurred by evolving. Humans change by using technology to in

Lots of knee jerk hate on the government for spending money in this thread. Investing in R&D (and infrastructure) is more or less the best investment the government can make. Historically these investments have been incredibly success

Can you explain why? If the government values this type of ongoing research by a variety of organizations, doesn't it make sense to fund that? Isn't that how research has always been done? I get that the guy who owns it is rich

Uhh, we also weren't evolved to read books. We're post-evolution, even if we're not post-biology. There are plenty of people thinking through how we could have a sustainable society on Mars, not really sure why people could

Back in 2020, a Japanese team did the worlds first transplant of lab grown heart cells into a patient. There is definitely progress being made on this.

We can now make the safest, most effective vaccines ever in 2 days. We're making huge advancements with mRNA. CRSPR is still a new technology that is being rapidly improved. Last years big biotech story was that we have more or less

Last weeks article was 130. Clearly take this all with a grain of salt, and realize that bioengineering is having an explosion that will redefine everything we think about medicine and the human body.

Is there any alternative available? While rich parents can train/educate their children better than non-rich parents can, I don't really see much of an issue there. It's not entirely equal, but I don't see it as much o

That's really nice in theory, but in the real world money IS a proxy for time and value creation. Having money is the same thing has being able to create value, and gives you freedom to create value at your own pace however you want.
