Any law will, at some point at least, become to vague. On the other hand, I too have the perception that bills are often carelessly written and too vague[0], but I think your understanding of jurisprudence or what a judge's job should

You're oversimplifying to an absurd degree. Consider Socialist Yugoslavia, the main difference between its electoral system and those of non-communist states was the amount of indirection involved. Also, you ignored the second half of

In what way is NVIDIA hurting Vulkan? I suspect the opposite is true, AMD designed the API Vulkan is based on, but the whole Vulkan thing would be meaningless without NVIDIA also standing behind it. Are you blaming NVIDIA for Vulkan not bei

How is NVIDIAs Linux driver hard to use? Are you referring just to the fact that using the driver means installing and maintaining more packages?

Putting a driver into the Linux project presumably means better integration with the rest of the kernel? Also: less package management work.

The linked Wikipedia page already mentions the Risch-Bronstein-Trager algorithm, which is supposedly implemented most fully in Fricas (i.e. Fricas or Axiom should, modulo bugs, be able to find an elementary function integral for any functio

Fricas supports several different output formats including TeX and MathML, which can be toggled and redirected independently. (There is some relatively recent work on that front, so changes are possible. I hope interfacing with Fricas progr

Fricas (a fork of Axiom, which is a rename of Scratchpad 2) is another very old CAS implemented with Lisp, also now open sourced. I think Fricas is more powerful than Maxima (maybe much more) regarding symbolic integration and its type syst

Since Wikipedia is getting a lot of unfounded criticism here, it may be good to raise some real issues: Wikipedia (even just the English Wikipedia) should not be considered as a unit. The fact is, a lot of articles are very good, better tha

Wikipedia is supposed to be a reliably sourced and verifiable encyclopedia, not a blog or advertisement, not full of random non-notable or unverifiable information. In other words, it is supposed to be useful.

No. There has been some effort in that direction, somebody proposed a Clang "type sanitizer" patch, but it wasn't merged.

"Dishonest" was probably the wrong choice of word, from at least a tactical perspective. I guess many people here disagreed with my comment here because they operated with a slightly narrower "definition" of dishonesty.

I agree, I just couldn't think of a better term than "verify". Still, when a non-lawyer designs a license, I think there are likely to be issues with the license that would be obvious to almost any lawyer.

One issue seems to be that it wasn't seen as desirable to promote something that is not source-available under whatever license, which conflicts with the main idea of the TGPPL of keeping the software closed-source during the grace per

Still, the claim of "open source" or "libre" or "free software" doesn't hold water effectively if there is nobody to verify it (lawyers are probably needed, too). License proliferation is a separate issue.

This (under the same name and version 1.0) has already been presented to FSF and OSI in the 2000s and 2010 on their mailing lists and other places, so I guess it didn't get approval. Since it thus isn't an open-source license, why

Why is RISC-V even so hyped up/successful? Other open ISAs precede it, and AFAIK the code density that RISC-V allows is disappointing considering the designers had an opportunity to start from scratch.
