That might not be totally true. The US govt likes to sneak secret things into comm satellites. For example gps satellites also contain hardware to detect nuclear detonations and track missile launches. Just speculation, but there could easi

Because rockets explode all the time and it's not really dangerous unless people are involved. Rockets are routinely exploded on purpose during testing.

There's a lot of speculation around the design and a third lightly reported COPV explosion that happened unexpectedly during testing. The strut failure is what SpaceX reported but it could have also been a COPV explosion. Two confirmed

Does anyone else feel like the COPV problem was not truly solved? This is the second mission loss caused by the same exploding COPV's. They need to be redesigned and SpaceX is twiddling around the issue to avoid the r&d cost. If I

Does being situational make the language more efficient to speak? You don't need nearly as many words when the meaning is tied to context. I've always been curious about east Asian languages and culture since they're relative

They actively prevent developers from building their own app stores and competing with apple's own apps. Bell telephone had a similar monopoly. They owned the phone lines and wouldn't allow any non-approved equipment connected. Yo

I'll admit the last part was just using a good opportunity to diss Oracle. The longer the keyword the less name collisions there will be in general, using a single character is absolute worst case if you want to avoid breaking code

Hahahaha Edit: I'm a Java guy too, don't get why some people get so butthurt over things :) At least it's not JavaScript with infinity, null, undefined, and NaN. Oh and null!=null which is hilarious

This is also true of Spanish and Portuguese but they are still considered different languages. If two people speaking different dailects couldn't understand each other they are surely different languages

So the fact that you no longer own the car is not enough to release you from liability from it? Typical "may cause cancer in the state of California" style regulations. Glad I don't live there anymore

Can you explain the reasoning behind typing in pinyin to see the output in traditional characters? To a native English speaker this sounds silly and pointless. Is it something that's mostly tradition or is there advantage to typing thi

The sheer amount of Java code written is nearly unfathomable. Maybe 3 million developers each churning out 20000 lines a year. That's about 60 billion lines of Java code per year. There could easily be over a trillion lines of Java out

For a language I find as reasonably designed as Java, this is stupid. Add a new key"word", don't deprecate a whole fucking character in a language that's been around for twenty years. It pains me to consider the horrific

This is at the TCP/http layer not app logic. Your machine and the servers you're connected to don't have the right settings for dialup. Turn up retries on TCP. Increase timeouts on the servers. Etc...

From my experience looking for jobs, only spend your own time learning the newest stuff. If companies need legacy skills they will train you because job listing for COBOL don't attract as many applicants :)

Most languages of the world are written primarily in Latin characters. The only language these characters were designed for is long dead. The reason for switching to Latin characters has nothing to do with phonetics and everything to do wit

Yeah it works pretty much the same. If your clients aren't geographically dispersed replace anycast with DNS round robin or use both like most huge sites do. Also there's three layers :) dns->ipvs->httpproxy->app servers.
