I’m aware, point stands. If you meet somebody for the first time the L* sets an expectation. You need to grow into it.

Impact is hard to define, I’m just talking about sprawling code bases, decades of reorgs, title changes, corporate priorities, and the very important little bits that just kinda make it all run.

I don’t see how giving an up-leveled employee time to adjust to a new responsibility scope is a bad thing. Working under conditions of pressure and stress provides few long term benefits and is the refuge of those who don’t have the smarts

The CEO is an MBA who just lets the CFO run the place. I honestly think Larry and Sergei want their piggy bank to grow and put people in charge who would focus on on thing only: stock price.

I’m not aware of anybody doing “eco friendly” routes with the intelligence, scale, or impact of google maps. Sure, it’s not a sexy cool thing, but it’s important.

Kid is 5.5. He gets money for doing chores and saves up to buy games and toys. We look at prices online, compare, figure out what he still needs to earn. If he’s short a few dollars I’ll loan him and then it’s dealing with negative numbers.
