Yeah custom TLs have a lot of promise and might be the most interesting feature among all the clones. It's a big ask to (new) users to curate our experience and having turnkey options could really make it easy to get the specific type

No this feature by itself isn't something to attract people to a brand new social network, I hope I didn't represent it that way. My perspective on the problem is that the way twitter's medium is designed doesn't produce

I'm of the opinion there aren't a lot of good alternative ideas circulating. There's been some work in a design pattern libraries but it's hard to design new features from the outside, and I don't think until very r

At least for me, I've spent the last ~3 years designing new feature ideas for twitter and twitter-like products as a hobby and been involved in various communities working on these issues. Ways to improve quality of comments, reduce co

Too early to tell about momentum tbh. Getting networks to collectively move takes time. From a protocol level I think Bluesky probably has opportunity for better UX than Mastodon, which is incredibly clunky when taking actions cross-server.

Twitter clones thus far have all been cover bands with a different (speaker) stack. Focus seems to be entirely on the backend protocol side - important for decentralization but fixing only part of the problem. I haven't seen much in th

That's like 7 patents, not sure it's particularly impressive from a tech patent portfolio perspective unless a few of them are real bangers, and/or Figma is known to be litigious which I don't think they are?

This is not self-evident. Biology is extremely complex and we have a lot left to learn before we can make definitive statements about safety. This idea of 'you can be sure we'd hear about it' places too much of the burden on

Well there'd be a transition phase and an honoring of existing contracts to some extent but the way to do it would be to slow roll the release of customer ISA updates or stop providing ISA updates altogether, e.g. anything past ARMv9.4

Nvidia could have shifted the model by firing the customers and bringing things in-house. That'd involve phasing out ARM licensees and buying up leading node fab capacity to manufacture their own stuff. If they pulled that off, that Nv

What you describe is price, not value. Things may be priced high but have little value, such as in cases of asset speculation. Things can be priced low but have great value, such as the value of human relationships, knowledge, etc. I think
