NGL I was impressed when I asked Claude how to do some fancy UI stuff and it just spat out some working react. A few hours later and I'd saved £500 I was going to spend on a designer.

Just added my first preact to my django site after alpine couldn't cut it. I consciously avoid anything needing the js build nonsense. So far so good.

I had x-rays when I went to see my dentist every few years. For 8ish years they said the small cavity in my tooth was probably fine. I finally had a filling and it turned out to be huge. Fucking useless scam.

For state, just create a container with x-data and use alpine, then let htmx replace the content. Works pretty well, but you can end up with needing some events which are a mess to keep track of. No use if you want react though...

And yet in 20 years of coding I've never needed to write any of these. Even implementing a graph is something I've only needed once or twice. It's far more important to know what you want to do rather than how to do it.

Yes, but there's a balance. The HN purists who are wedded to their knowledge struggle with this, but then someone does need debugging skills to go in and fix things when some of the stupid things AI does makes things break. Also I'

Whenever I read Dickens or whatever and there's a sentence like: "Stop!" he ejaculated I can't help adding a mental full stop to make 2 sentences. Childish I know :D Makes for some strange additions to the story

I evaluated both for my latest project. I wanted to go with Spring Boot for static typing. In the end I went with django for one reason: The admin. Why there's nothing comparable in the java world I don't know, but for an early pr

You apply then call the recruiter to talk about the job. They're busy and you're awesome so you're helping them out by highlighting your application. Never fails for me.

Yes. It's better than burning £100ks by over complicating things and wasting your developer's time. Most startups fail. You need to cover as much ground as possible while you have runway, not cock about with microservices.

If you lack the skills to determine a strategy then yes, it's important. Do you need to study it all before starting a business? No. That's why I recommend a self paced part time course where you can choose the most useful modules

Part time remote it's more like £10-15k. The point is so you don't waste your time because you've got no idea about strategy and end up building things with no real potential. It's easy to waste multiple years on side pr

This is from "Anything You Want" by Derek Sivers. Take what he says with a pinch of salt. He stumbled across an idea with high PMF, so a lot of what he writes is due to survivorship bias and luck. If people are knocking your door

This post has successfully convinced me this company is full of retards. Great job. Just use hugo/whatever and host on s3. This shouldn't even be a debate, let alone they've already done 3 rewrites. Bunch of clowns.
