You'd hope that a $3500 head computer wouldn't require a computer to do computer stuff :(

Yeah and I think NAOT still embeds the same(?) runtime GC into the native binary. So, for memory usage, I would expect it to be nearly/exactly the same.

I don't know about the law, but that's not true of Teslas. Deceleration triggers brake lights. Here's one example where a guy tests it https://youtu.be/dmptMElBpjI

+1 to Native AOT, I'd love to see the data. Pretty easy to do, add a line of XML to the csproj and a modified `dotnet publish` command. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/core/deploying/nati...

Amazing project. Would be cool if the RSS feed could accept a parameter for either top x stories, or all stories with score greater than y.

Depends on who you ask. This debate is why Ethereum (ETH) and Ethereum Classic (ETC) split. The hack against the DAO was either illegal or legal.

I had the same feeling as a C# developer. I took some weekends to write an algorithm (Monte Carlo financial simulation) in Rust, Go, JavaScript, and C#. You should do something like that. What I learned is that Rust has by far the best runt

A/C without a heat pump is insanity. It's literally the exact same appliance with an added reversing valve and associated piping. A few extra dollars and your air conditioner can also heat. Mind blowing that anyone wouldn't c

You have to quit Firefox and then manually update the Snap. I thought restarting Firefox would trigger auto-update, but no.

One more comment, since there's a sibling comment about not having kids. I live in a US state with a pre-paid college tuition plan, and it's pre-paid for four years of tuition for my one kid. I know there's more to college ex

Mostly luck* that my wife and I worked for a company that compensated largely in stock, and we worked there (and both got promoted) during a period of strong stock performance. We also planned our expenses around one base salary. So about 1

The phrase that stuck with me from that book: tomorrow in not guaranteed. I'm in my forties and have watched a few friends die slowly from cancer, and others die suddenly in car crashes. During COVID, working from home in my dimly-lit

The 780M integrated graphics on the 7040 apu is supposed to be something like 30% better than in the current-gen 680M. Search YouTube for 680M gaming and see if it's good enough for you! https://www.notebookcheck.net/AM

I have high long term hopes for Maui Blazor. It's such a simple thing, a bridge between native-compiled .NET code and a platform-provided web renderer. There will always be a need for both of those things in .NET, always, so the bridge

I was just thinking about this site the other day. I was on a trip with an older DSLR Nikon D3200 and a Samsung S21 Ultra. Most of the time I had to look at metadata to tell which photos came from which, a fact that I found staggering. I th

F360 makes me so sad. I'd gladly pay for it, but I make like 2 or 3 models as a hobbyist per year and their cheapest plan is hundreds of dollars per year. I wish there was something in between that unlocked the full functionality.
