Maybe there could be an 'introduction to submitting patches to Python' tutorial with a VM that includes: - A Python implementation with some obvious and easy to find bugs (plus hints). - A checklist of the patch notes/emails that would be e

Why not? It's your hardware and you can do what you want with it. Apple have never complained about people installing Linux on MacBooks. In fact back in the G4 days they turned a blind eye to Mac on Linux which let you virtualize OS X on to

Yes. Web sockets are implemented on top of a HTTP verb, e.g.: {Regular HTTP handshake} {Socket negotiation} {Data sent over the open connection} Unless your browser also accepts incoming HTTP connections it won't be able to accept incoming

Emigrating to Hong Kong should be pretty easy, their migration process is points based and most people with a Masters degree probably qualify. It's a great city so the WiFi wouldn't be the only attraction. Has anyone had any experience doin

Obviously advice on the Internet about finding free WiFi is not terribly useful... but... For London free WiFi can be found at: - Starbucks (when you buy a £5 Starbucks card, but you get the £5 back as caffeine - and unlike the US there is

That's going to depend a lot on what AMD have in their combined chip road map. Who apart from AMD could offer a single chip with laptop-class performance? Nvidia lack a CPU and Intel's graphics are not in the top tier (yet). If they could s

The link actually shows that this (100k/mo) was the iPhone's best quarter to date. They sold more in Q1 2010 than they did in the quarter when the 3GS was introduced.

People are still selling Android phones with version 1.6 on them, which won't run software requiring newer versions (which software won't show up in the marketplace at all, confusing users). This is the same for the App Store and firmware

That's a very good point, but I'd say that mostly the interface philosophies co-exist reasonably well, even on one device. Because apps tend to be full screen it's not such a big deal to have them behave a little differently. The hard butto

I think you underestimate what Comcast et al are trying to do to the Internet, with the help of various convenient politicians. Things like the .xxx proposal and opposition to net neutrality are steps towards the same kind of 'clean, curate

In practice nearly all WiFi in London is on channels 1-11 because there are enough tourists who would otherwise complain. Some personal WiFi is on 13 because it buys you two-channel separation for free. (13 and 11 still conflict, but not as

So does the US - the agency responsible is the FCC. In general regulating broadcast RF is a good thing, because it only takes one badly behaving device to spoil the air space for everyone. You might think that it would be possible to rely o

They got it backwards. IIRC the max effective power on 2.4ghz is 200mW in the US and 100 mW in the EU. Changing the limit is a software/firmware configuration issue plus a little calibration with a signal meter so it won't have any impact o
