It is the 'normal' way but I'm not sure it's the 'preferred' one for a x64 system. Seriously, are you SURE you tried the x64 version? From the looks of it, you didn't, so I'd suggest you following the steps to get the x64 package. Something

Let me rephrase that. Did you install the normal plugin (which is not x64) or the beta x64? In case of the package, which package exactly did you install?

No way this is gonna make its way to T-Mobile. :( Thankfully there's Pdanet and others, but I surely would like it as a cleaner, built-in feature.

Are you using the vanilla player or the x64 player?

All companies will say this, I guess. In HTC case's, I guess it's because they have to defend themselves. Giving in and wasting money or removing features could be understood as a disservice to their customers.

It's not, but it's something all companies resort to due to the failure that is the current patent system.

Yes, they will. It's a big "when" though. I work with Flash and I don't think it's buggy or bloated - that's overblown. It's not perfect, but it's definitely much better than people paint it to be (specially people who don't work with it).

They said they'll release Flash at Google I/O, and they already got their Froyo cast for the Google offices, so... yeah, I'm leaning on the 'yes' side for Android 2.2 available at Google I/O.

Exactly. Same for the system as a whole. It should be a nice boost for Apps/games available in the market though. Weird that they didn't have JIT until now.

Yeah, but how is that going to work in the iPad since it has no hover?

For some odd reason, the Nexus One browser is a lot more optimized for canvas use. It blows away the iPad and the iPhone in terms of performance.

Pointless? If I'm navigating a website that has video or interactive content and I want to see it, and there's no alternate content, how is that pointless ?

The HTC incredible uses Flash Lite. Flash 10.1 (the one demoed here) is supposed to be much better in terms of performance and battery usage (not to mention it has many more features than FL; FL is around Flash 9 sans some features).

http://techcrunch.com/2010/02/22/farmville-nexus-one/ Keep in mind this is using the Flash Lite player, though, not the full 10.1 that will be released in a week or so.

If we have the same video in mind, 'the last time' the video was edited and cut in the middle, giving the impression the battery was depleted halfway through. Here's some battery 'benchmarks' (rather, accelerated videos) when playing video

From the source ( http://blog.digitalbackcountry.com/2010/05/examples-of-flash... ): We’ll be releasing a public version of Flash Player 10.1 at Google I/O Expected, but wasn't confirmed until now. Nice. So we all should have it in a week

Flash is not "remaining the same". Vast improvement has been done both in terms of features and performance in the past years -- many of them, yes, requested by the community - but I guess anyone who's not working closely with the technolog

Not sure what's the gist of the test -- all this proves is that it's possible to achieve 100% CPU usage in HTML, and that some browsers perform better than others. How does that relate to Flash? I guess my point is that it's missing some re

The same is happening to the iPhone ecosystem; at a slower pace, but it's happening. Before it was the iPhone 2G; now it's iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS, iPad, soon the new iPhone 4G... soon there will be way too many differences in resolution, screen

While people will want to dismiss this because it's based in several devices, prior to the release of the new iPhone, and because it's still restricted to AT&T - all valid facts - the important thing to notice here is trend. Android dev
