1) It's not short term. Fortnite is constantly adding new features. This isn't normal crunch before a game ships then relax after patching bugs, it's literally crunch every week. 2) The actual employees are paid very well v

I had a friend get physically harassed and eventually get forced to exit the program when she demanded action. Anecdotal, sure, but I would guess it is more common than people realize or want to admit.

For my entire tenure of owning a smartphone before I got my Pixel 2 I was using and would swear by mid range phones from these eastern companies. ZTE, Huawei, LeEco, Alcatel. It was some combination of tendency to break phones, not wantin

Ray tracing hardware being included kind of worries me actually. Unless they're selling it at a loss I can't see it being below 500 dollars with the prices of ray tracing capable cards being as high as they are. As far as PSVR, t

That's... not how politics work in America. That course of action leads to you giving money to someone who's not going to change their policies instead of giving it to someone who is actually campaigning for change.

I am very very pleased to see gaming moving in this direction, albeit slowly. The amount of ads for say, Totinos or Mountain Dew / Red Bull that I see while watching Twitch or viewing gaming-related content is staggering.

On the one hand it's nice to see FB admitting to not being able to come up with a solution for their hate speech problem. On the other hand, putting it on the government when the government is struggling financially and FB is rolling

There's so much here that it's almost impossible to decide what to comment on. The bit about sending the best Frostbite programmers to work on FIFA is pretty damning. EA brass is apparently as boneheaded and old-guard minded as

Yeah. My last company got bought by them and was told that in spite of their rep for shuttering and turning companies into shells this was absolutely not the case. Cue a few months later almost 10 percent of staff let go, hiring freeze fo

It's certainly not, but I think the company wants it like that because, largely, working in healthcare sucks. If you had C# experience and were tired of jumping through hoops and constantly having fires because of the demands of the m

Another article about how San Francisco is prohibitively expensive! I think more mid to big companies should consider investing in moving to some of these areas where there's little to nothing else. If you look at something like Epic

I'm currently finishing up a contract at a large chemical company doing the same thing. They have a fancy new office in downtown Chicago that clearly a lot of money went into. They emphasize scrum, being fast moving, and a geeky, inn

1. YT has problem that generates a lot of bad press and loses money/face. 2. YT develops either easily-gameable or far-too-heavy-handed automated solution to said problem, because they can't afford to actually police their content

The last few paragraphs remind me of a few of the conversations in the last bit of the oscar nominated doc Minding the Gap. It's on Hulu, would recommend if you find this article interesting.

Investors see something like Fortnite making crazy amounts of money and ask why your game isn't generating that revenue. It's not rocket science.

Fair point. I was more talking about MTX and DLC than shovelware, but shovelware's definitely been around forever. Curiously I don't think it's as much of a problem in the core gaming sector these days due to the prevalence

I don't really know if it's rose colored glasses but as a lifelong gamer it really sucks to see gaming as an industry become more and more focused around ROI rather than shipping quality games. The latest Call of Duty and Red Dead
