The new rule is that H1B workers need to earn higher salaries relative to the distribution of salaries in their profession. The worker must make the 45th percentile wage, where previously it was 17th. Won't this primarily hurt people e

I definitely have friends who would and could buy Teslas if not for the asshole techbro image cultivated by Musk. IMO, that is kind of silly of them, but it's foolish to pretend people don't consider their self-image when consider

That's not really what this type of speaker is for. It's more a speaker for your bedroom or kitchen that you use from your phone or via voice. My Sonos One doesn't have Aux in either, although some of the other speakers do.

Gotta disagree with this, I'm very happy with the integrated Roku in my TCL TV. And the TV still has HDMI ports, so I don't see how it's obsolete if I ever want to stop using the Roku.

Why are you stuck with them? Does your TV not have HDMI ports or something?

Heh, wasn't sure where to draw the line. Radiation was discovered in the 1890s, so that seemed like as far back as you could go.

I don't think that's quite an apt comparison. The fundamental physics of an atomic bomb were not well known until the late 1800s. Apparently the Manhattan Project cost about $23 billion in 2007 dollars. ITER apparently had an init

Hard same. After having a few experiences where a dependency hardly does anything, my approach is to read the docs first and see if I can implement the parts I need in a couple of hours. Often I can.

It's honestly so weird to read comments like this that presume no one else has ever realized before that the sun sets every night. I would guess that the California power regulators actually do know this and have plans for it.

I can't find the link right now, but I read a paper recently that electric cars are about twice as efficient as gas cars, so even if we only switched to electric cars, we'd massively reduce our energy consumption.

1) Regard apartments, the government should make funds available to add charging to existing apartment buildings. It could also do stuff like add chargers to light posts, as I believe some European countries do. Also, we can normalize runni

I'm not saying I completely agree with closing the plant, but to be fair to the argument they make, the agreement does seem to spell out that the plant will be replaced with greenhouse gas free energy sources, including renewables + st

First time I saw one was when I was interviewing in NYC. I walked in and grabbed a sandwich and couldn't believe what dry flavorless garbage it was. 7-Eleven is honestly a step up.

In the US, the police are essentially an occupying force with their own agenda that they pursue. At times it aligns with the agenda of broader society, but at times not. Because the police know not to mess with the "wrong" people,

I remain skeptical that JWTs are a good idea for the general case. People like them because you can do stateless auth, but if your database really can't handle a single PK-based lookup per request, I feel like you have other problems.

I think with JWTs, you sometimes need to do this because the JWT itself stores the id of the key used to create the JWT. For example, if you have a multi-tenant application where each tenant has their own key, or for key rotation (although

The House has passed a bill [1] that would make it illegal to make these meetings mandatory, btw. Obviously won't pass with a GOP senate, but could happen if the Dems manage to retake government. [1]: https://www.congress.go
