> React Router is probably one of the most widely deployed JavaScript libraries ever and is the furthest thing imaginable from a project created by grifters to sell online courses. This is a funny example (to me) because in 2017, one of

Not sure why this was dead. VoiceOver is an iOS/macOS feature and the comment author was expressing that the software quality has been declining. This is an important issue IMO. After having worked on accessibility for mobile and web a

Is the same seller making both offers? One for the difficult price, one for the black market price?

One factor complicates things a bit: this is one way to encode that the timezone is UTC, but +00:00 is also commonly used for example. RFC 3339 is nice for this reason. Always UTC and terminated with a Z.

I think a lot of the people who use merge do so because that’s what they learned initially. Anecdotally, a lot of my coworkers who use merge are conceptually trying to stack their commits on top of previous ones. My lukewarm take: most of t

In my opinion, the browser has been much better since 2017/2018. Have you used it in the last few years? Complaints about Firefox aside, the Manifest V3/uBlock Origin issue should be a major concern for tech-savvy Chromium-based b

What do you mean by index files? It might depend on the bundler, but I haven’t heard of index.js/index.ts files being a hard requirement for a directory to be traversable in most tooling.

Russ - can you please explain the rationale for "In person NYC 5 days a week" and that it's non-negotiable? It seems that you're restricting your talent pool in a labor market that prefers remote work. Given that the Sve

I’m still learning about the tools and their pros and cons. Can you provide an example of a case where Maven would not do what it should? Are there particular bug reports or bug reproduction repos that you’ve seen? Context: I worked on a Sp

Take this with a grain of salt as I’m not an SME, but there is a need for volunteers on reverse-engineering projects such as the Zelda decompilation projects[1]. This would probably give you some level of exposure, particularly if you have

That is one way to “remove a commit” and I agree with your analysis for that case. The method I had in mind is an interactive rebase. Assume there are n > 5 commits on my branch, choosing 5 arbitrarily. If I run “git rebase -i HEAD~5” th

It's accurate in most common workflows, but definitely a convenient lie. Consider the case where I create a new branch B from A then remove a commit. The branch is now more like a "a pointer to a commit on a DAG" where branch

I think some developers are just not proficient though. You make a fair point about life circumstances, but not everyone can be prescribed to this track.

All excellent points. Yes, the package ecosystem has been a pain point. We’ve turned this into a slight positive by pushing the business to allow us to make open source contributions. The developers seem to enjoy this a lot, and hopefully o

To clarify, this was new development — not the process of rebuilding of an existing app. For that reason, the greenfield development was indeed simpler. That being said, it’s been one year and making changes to the Svelte application is (in

I’m also a developer and tech lead who’s been working with React since the beta. Agreed with all your points about React. I’m not sure I would say Svelte and Solid are a farther step off the “just JavaScript” path than React given JSX thoug

While I think some of your points have merit, you are misrepresenting the subreddit quite a bit here. On the topic of emergency savings funds, the community tends to recommend sizing these to cover roughly 3-6 months of expenses[1]. Larger
