I come from a data analysis background, and I'm thinking about R / Python as the alternative to Excel, not Google Sheets. People used to use Excel to run regression, visualize data, etc. which I consider inferior to R / Pytho

People are wedded to Excel because they've spent a lot of time learning it and don't want their skills to become obsolete. The resistance is rooted in psychological / political reasons, not technical ones.

Vincent says that building a solo business requires you to work on a boring idea, i.e. something everyone already knows the value proposition of, e.g. punch card on computer. How does one learn about these "mundane" issues that sm

Some hypotheses: 1. First floor space is the most expensive (a testable assumption), and only luxury brands like LV can afford it. 2. Brand name on the first floor attracts people walking by into the mall.

That part really irks me as well. It sounds like a move for the cool factor that will go into a Medium post or book later, rather than a move to optimize for the best chance of beating Magnus. Building a ML algorithm to beat Magnus is reall

Could you elaborate on how the Vietnam War succeeded in "protecting US business interests around the world"? In my view, first, the Vietnam War has little to do with "business interest," more with containing the spread o

It's not so different from your own example of "football where [you] don't want to exercise." Many video games require skills and can be stressful to play [1] [2]. It's a lot more fun to watch people more skilled th

The typical argument why traders don't make money is not that the stock market behaves as a coin flip. The argument is that, if you see "obvious momentum," many others in the market are likely to see that too, and the current

How does one dispute a bill? On what basis can we say that this bill should have been $X instead of $Y? I'd love to start doing this but I don't know how.
