Embedded high-integrity systems have traditioanlly used this kind of cycle. It's simple to reason about and analyse. You can make assertions about worst case execution time and memory useage and you know for a fact what the order of ex

What are the advantages of using FastMail's android app over a normal mail client? I'm thinking of moving to Fastmail from Gmail.

Blimey, I remember seeing that covered on Tomorrow's World when it was being built. It seemed like an interesting idea at the time.

Oh god, the Disney+ app is a complete dumpster fire. There is a fix for the Disney+ pause issue: Got to Settings -> Display -> Sounds -> Audio -> Dolby Digital Output and turn it off. Obviously that's crap if you want Dolby

I wonder ow many people cancelled their credit cards before they were told this was some PR idiot's idea of a "joke". You've got to wonder how people come up with ideas as clearly braindead as this.

I find Ars Technica seems to mostly strike this balance reasonably well in their comments. It can frequently get heated without actually descending into Reddit levels. Their moderation appearts to do a reasonable job.

As I pointed out in another thread about these vehicals, the USPS still operates mule trains , hovercraft and helicopters for some deliveries. That's the most extreme examples, and I imagine there are many journeys that are somewhere

Absolutely, but that was kind of my point. A lot of recruiters I've encountered are like talking to a markov chain trained from some job ads. It sounds right if you don't actually know what the words mean.

I had a recruiter say "XML and UML are basically the same, right?". There's almost a dangerous level of knowledge among some recruiters where they think they know enough to do crap like this.

I keep seeing people say that Impossible tastes better, bit Beyond keeps snagging big deals like this and it makes me wonder if they have either a price or supply-chain advantage.

Naive bitcoiner here. So what's the deal here? Would this essentially just require everyone to collectively agree that he owned the coins?

I've definitely heard stories from old pilots of blacking out and coming too while out of control, and then having to wrestle control back while coming round. I wouldn't be at all surprised if many more never recovered in time. I

It pretty much is the case. Part of it is that predictability is a desirable feature in these systems, but also that problems like the one described in the article you don't really need things like ML. The majority of control problems
