For what's its worth this was my passion and I'd leave the field if I could, for a number of reasons. Just realize though that if you leave theres a high chance of a pay cut.

Its not the exact same domain (iirc they specialized in niche medical device) but there was an Ask Hn thread thr past week regarding finding customers in the medical industry. Perhaps there's some info in there that might help you? ht

Well for one you wont see Chemists or Civil Engineers from the variety of backgrounds developers come from. It's near impossible to become one without the degree.

From what I understand there arent any, at least nothing compared to what you think of when you think of computer monitors. there are a few, nut they're very small and rather expensive. Obviously the refresh rate isn't good enough
