This really doesn't seem to solve the main problem that most current ranking systems have - it doesn't compensate for recency. Newer critically-acclaimed movies like The Dark Knight rank higher than much older but just as well-liked movie

I'm having a hard time viewing "responsibility to do something" and "owing someone something" as distinct ideas.

This one reason I don't read blog articles in an RSS feed. I aggregate them with one, but follow links to the blog owner's site so that I'm reading their content as they designed it .

I think you mean "declaring the variable name before the type ". So C is "int x" where Go is "x int". BASIC is typically more like "DIM x AS INTEGER".

My point (probably didn't make that clear) is that might be a reason it's not more popular - because it's not really obvious how it's supposed to work.

Probably because that landing page doesn't tell me much about how it works. It's "limited to 500 characters"... for the sender? What happens if it's more than 500 characters or has an attachment? Or wait, is this a walled garden thing? I ca

I would argue that there is no "underlying point" of skeuomorphism except to make shit feel nice by alluding to familiar real-life objects. There's no requirement that the source material be functionally similar.

I don't see what your anecdote has to do with kindness. Presumably both Guttmann and his colleagues were all kind enough to want to reduce suffering; Guttmann just happened to be more correct about how to do so. Neither approach was more or
