Please don't do this. A) it is futile: people upvote what they upvote. No amount of whining will affect that. B) If something gets upvotes and comments, then obviously it's of interest to enough people. If you have genuine confusion as to

Chrome on Windows 7, clicking play button does absolutely nothing. EDIT: started working after like a minute of sitting. Maybe it had to wait to download the audio file?

But knowing color theory doesn't make you a bad programmer. Why in hell would knowing basic programming inhibit your emotions?

I want to live in a world where I can find and talk to somebody who has not learned to write, who does not have any idea how the alphabet works, but is exceptional in some other completely unrelated field.

It's more than that, though, it's when a program won't DWYM despite an error message indicating that the programmer knew exactly what was meant, but decided not to do it anyway.

Put it in your toolbox. You can apply functional concepts in basically any high-level language.

The Wisconsin Humane Society actually assesses their animals and assigns them a color based on personality and temperament so you can find what you're looking for in a pet. I have to imagine lots of other shelters do this also.

David Petrarca is not "the show's director", he's a director of two episodes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Game_of_Thrones_episode...

The point is that, in tptacek's estimation, she provides no evidence for her assertions, relying on us, the audience, to trust in her purported experience and authority. Another way to look at it is that she's committing an appeal to (her

I'm not talking about loop syntax or stdlib argument order. I'll google around for algorithms or concepts or data structures too. I'll bring up the docs and study them to figure out what data structures I've got so as to do the least amount

This is something that bugs me about whiteboard-style interviews - they test almost none of the typical day-to-day aspects of programming. Without Google, without docs, without a REPL, without the code-run-debug cycle, how is it that you

I believe I detect a tacit assumption that there's a correlation between quality and message length. Long-form encourages repetitive rumination, digression, and purple prose at least as much as it does detail & ornate linguistic aesthet

In the context of software, "piracy" has come to mean downloading and distributing copyrighted material. And I think it's fine to use it for that, even though it doesn't happen on the high seas (usually?). But this is more like plagiarism

OP is mad that Popova is claiming to be ad-free when they believe affiliate links constitute ads. I think it's reasonable to disagree on that point, but that's not what you spent your rant doing.
